Fractional CFO Leadership

Stop guessing
at your own
numbers.

Payroll. The tax bill. The next hire. The loan you are about to sign. You are calling all of it on numbers you do not fully trust, and that gets expensive fast.

What You Get
Week 1
You See What It Is Costing
Where the money is leaking, what the tax exposure really is, and whether you can cover the next 90 days of payroll.
A Fraction
Of a Full-Time CFO
The seat without the base, bonus, equity, benefits, payroll taxes, and severance that come attached to it.
Until Fixed
Not a Day Longer
This is an expensive seat and it should not be permanent. We solve the problem, hand it over, and get out of your P&L.
30 min
No Pitch, No Slides
One honest conversation about your numbers to see whether we're the right fit for you.

We come alongside you with a fractional CFO so you can start making those 10x decisions before they cost you.

This is how
you scale

Three ways in, built for three very different needs. Start with an advisor in your corner. Step up to a fractional CFO and a finance team when the business outgrows that. Finish with the full-time CFO we help you hire.

You move up as you grow. You never pay for a level you have not reached, and we never scope you out of reach.

Strategic
Advisory

A finance partner in your corner, not on your payroll.

Get in Touch

A lightweight retainer that pairs you with the right CFO-level finance partner. A sounding board and co-pilot rather than another seat on your org chart. They sit in on the calls that matter, pressure-test your big decisions, help you hire the people around you, and stay a call away in between.

A standing seat on your finance and leadership calls
Capital raises, board decks and investor prep
Hiring help: bookkeeping, HR, IT and key roles

Core Engagement
Fractional CFO
and Finance Team

Senior financial leadership, plus the team to deliver it, without a full-time hire.

Get in Touch

A fractional CFO takes the chair and owns every facet of your engagement, backed by the finance team that supports that seat, so the work gets done and not just recommended. Scheduled business reviews keep us accountable above the day-to-day. Behind it sits a national network of several hundred fractional CFOs we can reach directly, so the CFO chair gets filled by someone who has already sat in it in your industry. And we are building toward handing it off: get the function working, grow you to the point where a full-time CFO is the right call, then help you hire that person.

Recruiting

Finding the right long-term finance leader.

Get in Touch

For companies that need a full-time hire, Founders Finance Group provides retained recruiting for finance leadership roles on a traditional retained search structure. Your opening goes straight to a national network of several hundred fractional CFOs, not just to a job board, so you see operators who have already run the seat you are trying to fill.

The typical roles we place for

Unique approach

Our retained fee is a straightforward, transparent 30%. Out of that fee we pay one-third straight to the person we place, as a bonus at their 90-day mark. It keeps them from getting cold feet or entertaining a counter-offer, so they’re far more likely to still be in the seat when day 90 arrives. It helps you, too: you may not need to put up a signing bonus at all. Or, if you’d like, we’ll help you position it as one, paid through us. We’re retained, so we’re glad to.

We also pay every candidate at least $50 for each interview we host with them, compensating their time from the very first call. Interviewing is grueling, and too many people get run through a mill and ghosted, so we treat every candidate like a five-star guest, right alongside you, and white-glove them all the way to their chair. They arrive enthusiastic and bought in from day one.

Not sure which path is right?

Every company is different. Some need a fractional CFO immediately. Others need the right finance team member to grow into the role. Founders Finance Group helps founders determine the right path and put the right financial leadership in place.

Start a Conversation

Four ways your
numbers get clear

Three things quietly eat owner-led businesses: tax, debt, and money that goes missing. These four fix all three. Where we start depends on what is bleeding.

01
Know Where You Stand

One page that tells you what you have, what you owe, and what is coming. No more finding out in March what happened in October.

02
Walk In Ready

Banks and buyers say no to messy books faster than they say no to bad numbers. Yours will be clean, defensible, and ready before you need them to be.

03
No More Surprises

No surprise tax bill. No covenant you tripped without knowing. No Friday where you are wondering whether payroll clears.

04
Keep More of It

Tax you should not be paying. Debt costing more than it should. Money walking out the back door. One client was letting excess cash sit in a non-interest-bearing account. That is now $60,000 a year in interest income they were not earning before.

From first call
to full clarity

No two engagements run the same way, because no two businesses have the same needs. What does not change is how we approach it.

01
First
The Scoping Call

We find where the pain is and where the value is hiding. You leave knowing what is actually costing you and what it would take to fix it.

02
Next
Your CFO Takes the Chair

We match you with the fractional CFO whose playbook fits your problem, and they arrive with the team and resources to run it.

03
Then
The Numbers Start Working

Clean books, a forecast you trust, and the handful of numbers that actually run your business, all pointed at where you said you want to go.

04
Until You Don't Need Us
Operating Partnership

Monthly closes, board prep, investor updates, and decision support, for as long as the seat earns its cost. Most engagements run one to two years. When you have outgrown it, we help you hire the full-time CFO and hand the chair over.

You built it.
We help you scale it.

You do not need a consultant who bills hours and emails PDFs. You need someone who has sat in the chair, built the function from nothing, carried a company through a raise, and been across the table on thirteen acquisitions. That is the standard every operator we place is measured against.

Whether you are pre-revenue or running $150M, you get the finance leader who already knows your world: a turnaround specialist in fintech, someone who has run a raise in consumer goods, whoever your situation actually calls for. Never a generalist learning it on your dime.

The conviction behind it is simple. When you can see your numbers, you decide faster, you sleep better, and you stop paying for the things you could not see. Logan Thompson is a licensed CPA in Orlando, Florida and the firm's founding principal.

What you can count on
Clarity First If it doesn't make things clearer for you, it doesn't get done.
Operator Mindset You get builders, not advisors watching from the sideline.
Real Partnership In the room with you, not cc'd on the email chain.
No Jargon Plain English, even when the numbers are not.
Founder-Aligned Your goals are our goals. We succeed when you do.
Disciplined Execution Strategy without follow-through is just a slide deck.

What happened
for them

"

We brought Logan in under real time pressure, needing a fractional CFO who could get up to speed fast, ask the right questions, and deliver work our client could act on immediately. He dug into five years of sales data to identify which lead sources were actually driving closed business, giving our client a fact-based view of marketing ROI instead of relying on the promises of ad sales reps. The reports were client-ready right out of the gate, and the numbers were accurate. The engagement went so well it strengthened our own standing with the client. Logan is our first call for fractional CFO work, and we recommend him without hesitation.

When our accounting and finance department needed steady, capable leadership during a period of significant transition, Logan answered the call, and then some. What stood out most was the sheer breadth of expertise Logan brought to the table. Whatever the challenge (strategic thinking, technical depth, or simply rolling up the sleeves and getting things done), he had the tools and the temperament to handle it. Bringing genuine competence to every corner of the finance organization was invaluable.

Logan brought both strategic thinking and tactical execution to our team during a time of need. He applied this rare combination of skills to help us better see and communicate our vision, then develop a plan of action to execute.

Why owners
call us first

You need real finance leadership. You don't need another six-figure salary on your payroll to get it.

Your CFO Comes With a Team

Your CFO arrives with people to hand work to. That keeps your senior hours on the decisions that move the business, not on running payroll and booking journal entries.

We Don't Just Report It, We Build It

Analysis is the easy part. You get the reporting, the dashboards, the forecast models, and the habits that keep them running long after the engagement ends.

You Pay for What You Need

Sizing a finance function is not your job, it is ours. Scoped to the problem, from a few hours a month to weekly support, and you will hear it from us when you need less.

What founders
ask us first

What does a fractional CFO actually do? +

You get the same finance leadership a full-time CFO gives you: reporting, forecasting, capital strategy, investor relations, and KPIs. You just get it sized to what your business needs right now, without carrying the fully loaded cost of a full-time executive: base, bonus, equity, benefits, payroll taxes, time off, and severance.

How is FFG different from a bookkeeper or accountant? +

Bookkeepers record transactions. Accountants prepare tax filings. We do something different: we interpret your financial picture, build forward-looking models, and help you make better business decisions. Think of it as the strategic layer above accounting.

What stage of company is this best suited for? +

We work with owner-led businesses from startup through $150M in revenue. Whether you are pre-revenue, getting ready to raise capital, or sitting at $150M and looking at an exit, we have an expert for that stage.

Do you work with specific industries? +

Yes and no. We are not boxed into a few sectors, and we are not industry-agnostic either. Through a national network of several hundred fractional CFOs, we go recruit against your situation, and in most cases that means someone with direct experience in your industry. Sometimes the better answer is a specific skill set or simply the right chemistry with you and your team, and we will tell you when that is the case. What you will never get from us is a generalist learning your business on your dime.

Will I work directly with Logan? +

Your engagement is owned by a fractional CFO matched to your industry, your stage, and your problem, and that CFO is accountable for every facet of the work. Scheduled business reviews keep the firm accountable at the relationship level, so you always have somewhere to go above the day-to-day. Logan keeps a small book of business personally, so his own availability is limited, but every engagement is held to his standard.

How do engagements typically work? +

It starts with a scoping call, where we work through what is hurting and where the money is being left on the table. From there we recommend the best-fit fractional CFO for those specific problems, along with the strategy, playbook, and resources they bring with them. That match is the whole product. A CFO who has already fixed your problem three times moves faster than one figuring it out on your clock. From there we shape the work around you: project work, advisory work, scoped weekly support, or retained search.

What does it cost? +

Pricing is scoped to each engagement based on depth of involvement and deliverables. Monthly retainers typically range from $5K to $15K+/month depending on scope. We're transparent about pricing from the first conversation.
